Important changes from 1 July 2019
Over the past five years EnableNSW has been providing support to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to help eligible people transition smoothly to scheme. As of 30 June 2019, our working arrangements with the NDIA came to an end, with the exception of repairs which has been until 24 December 2019.
With the NDIS now at full scheme implementation across New South Wales, it is expected people under 65 make an access request through the NDIS to ensure they receive the appropriate funding for their disability supports.
To help prepare for arrangements after 24 December 2019, we are actively encouraging participants to work with their Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or Support Coordinator to ensure they have sufficient budget in their plan for their Assistive Technology (AT) needs, including repairs.
We are also encouraging participants to work directly with their preferred supplier to discuss their AT needs, including repairs. As part of this process, some participants may start contacting you directly to assist with the planning process.
It is expected after 24 December 2019, participants will go directly to their preferred supplier and your payment will come from their plan. For urgent cases where there is insufficient funding, we encourage you to refer the participant to their LAC or Support Coordinator. The NDIS website has some helpful information about plan approvals and what the person can do if they are not happy with their current level of funding.
Ongoing partnership with our Suppliers
There are approximately 26,000 people currently being assisted by EnableNSW who will not be eligible for the NDIS, either due to their age or health condition. Many of our services, including the funding of respiratory consumables and equipment (such as oxygen concentrators), will continue to be available to people of all ages.
