All face to face prescriber education sessions will be provided at the EnableNSW Equipment Centre in Homebush West unless specified elsewhere.
The following assistive technology (AT) education sessions are available to EnableNSW eligible prescribers. All sessions are facilitated by EnableNSW Clinical Advisors in partnership with suppliers and clinical educators.
If you are unable to attend a session which you have booked, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to other interested prescribers.

EnableNSW Face to Face and Online Sessions
Beds, Mattresses and Pressure Care
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Funding Criteria and reviews the range of beds and mattresses available through the EnableNSW Equipment Allocation Program (EAP) and available on the NSW Government Contract. It will include a practical component to review the stock options available.
Participants will learn:
- To identify pressure injury stages and gain an understanding of different pressure risk assessment scales
- The different features of the beds and mattresses available
- What to consider when prescribing beds, bed accessories and mattresses, including considerations around pressure management and safety.
Power Wheelchairs and Scooter
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Funding Criteria and reviews the range of power wheelchairs and scooters available through the EnableNSW Equipment Allocation Program (EAP) and/or on the NSW Government Contract. It includes a practical component to trial the different stock options.
Participants will learn:
- The specifications and features of the power wheelchairs and scooters available
- What to consider when prescribing power wheelchairs and scooters
Manual Wheelchairs and Pressure Cushions
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Funding Criteria and reviews the range of manual wheelchairs and pressure cushions available through the EnableNSW Equipment Allocation Program (EAP) and on the NSW Government Contract.
Participants will learn:
- The specifications and features of the manual wheelchairs and pressure cushions available
- What to consider when prescribing manual wheelchairs and pressure cushions
The Power Assist Equipment for Manual Wheelchairs session will directly follow this session and is recommended for additional learning
Power Assist Equipment for Manual Wheelchairs
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Funding Criteria and reviews the range of power assist equipment available through the NSW Government Contract. It provides a practical component to trial some of the options available through the NSW Government contract.
Participants will learn:
- The specifications and features of the power assist equipment available
- What to consider when prescribing power assist equipment
The Manual Wheelchair and Pressure Cushion session will precede this session and is recommended for additional learning
Bariatric Self-Care and Mobility Equipment
This session provides an overview of the bariatric self-care and mobility equipment available through EnableNSW.
Participants will learn:
- What to consider when prescribing bariatric self-care and mobility equipment including body anthropometrics, safe working loads (SWLs)
- The different specifications and features of stock / contract bariatric equipment including wheelchairs, beds and mattresses, pressure cushions, bathing and toileting equipment, and transfer aids
Self-Care and Transfer Equipment
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Funding Criteria and reviews the range of bathing, showering, and toileting and transfer equipment available through the EnableNSW Equipment Allocation Program (EAP) and on the NSW Government Contract. A focus on contract power lift chairs as transfer equipment will be included.
Participants will learn:
- The specifications and features of the self-care and transfer equipment available
- What to consider when prescribing self-care and transfer equipment
Self-Care and Mobility Prescription Success
This session provides information on how to successfully apply for funding of self-care and mobility equipment through EnableNSW.
Participants will learn:
- How to complete the relevant equipment request forms including how to link the request to the corresponding funding criteria
- How to convert your assessment results and clinical recommendations into the request for funding
- When to include information about specific features and accessories on the request
- How to read and interpret a quote for equipment from a supplier
Footwear and Orthoses Prescription Success
This session provides information on how to successfully apply for medical grade footwear and orthoses through EnableNSW.
Participants will learn:
- How to best complete the relevant equipment request forms
- How to navigate the online catalogue
- What to consider when prescribing and obtaining quotes
Self-Care and Mobility Online Catalogue and Platform
This session will provide information for NSW Health employees on:
- navigating the online catalogue including differences between stock and contract self-care and mobility equipment.
- submitting a request using the EnableNSW online platform.
Prosthetic Limb Service Prescription Success
This session provides information on how to successfully apply for Interim, Primary and Replacement Prostheses through EnableNSW
Participants will learn:
- How to best complete the relevant equipment request forms
- What to consider when prescribing interim and replacement prostheses including how to link the request to the corresponding funding criteria
Compression Garment Prescription Success
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Compression Garment Program including types of garments provided, funding criteria, prescriber eligibility and highlight important information required for equipment requests.
Participants will learn:
- About EnableNSW and its place within the funding system
- What to consider during the prescription process
- How to complete the relevant forms, including how to link the request to the corresponding funding criteria
Mechanical In-Exsufflation (MIE) workshop
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Funding Criteria for MIE equipment available through the NSW Government Contract.
Participants will learn:
- MIE titration and problem solving
- Differences between MIE Devices
- Hands on practical experience with EnableNSW contracted MIE device

Home Respiratory Program
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Home Respiratory Program including equipment and consumables provided, funding criteria, prescriber eligibility, EnableNSW Online and highlight important information required for equipment request success. Updates on equipment or consumable changes will also be provided.
These sessions are broken down into streams where the requirements, supporting documentation and justification for the following equipment requests will be discussed:

- funding criteria, prescriber eligibility and highlight important information required for equipment requests
These sessions are an excellent forum to ask questions related to the EnableNSW Home Respiratory Program.
Home Enteral Nutrition Program
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN) Program including equipment and consumables provided, funding criteria, prescriber eligibility, EnableNSW Online and highlights important information required for equipment requests.
Participants will learn:
- How to complete the relevant forms including meeting the requirements of the corresponding funding criteria
- Inclusions and exclusions for the EnableNSW HEN Program
- Differences between standard and non-standard allocations, and specific additional clinical information that is required for non-standard allocations.
Continence
This session provides an overview of the EnableNSW Continence Program including equipment and consumables provided, funding criteria, prescriber eligibility, EnableNSW Online and highlights important information required for equipment requests.
Participants will learn:
- How to complete the relevant forms including meeting the requirements of the corresponding funding criteria
- Inclusions and exclusions for the EnableNSW Continence Program
- Differences between standard and non-standard allocations, and specific additional clinical information that is required for non-standard allocations.
